1. What This Covers

This policy explains what personal data Homio collects, why, and how we protect it. Homio processes personal data in line with Ghana's Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843).

2. What We Collect

Account details: name, email, phone number, and password (encrypted). Listing details: photos, price, location and description you provide. Verification documents: Ghana Card number and photos, business registration documents, and TIN — collected only from users applying for a professional role (agent, agency, developer, property manager). Usage data: pages visited and basic device/browser information, used to keep the platform working and secure.

3. Why We Collect It

To create and run your account, to show your listings to other users, to verify professional listers so buyers and renters can trust them, to process payments for paid features, to respond to your enquiries and support requests, and to send you notifications you've opted into (like new messages or listing updates).

4. Who Can See What

Your name, photo, phone number, and listings are shown publicly once your account is active — that's the point of a public listing. Your Ghana Card number, uploaded ID photos, and business documents are private: only you and Homio's verification team can see them. They are never shown on your public profile.

5. Who We Share Data With

Homio uses a small number of trusted service providers to run the platform, and shares only what each one needs to do its job: Supabase (database and file storage), Paystack (payment processing), Resend (sending emails like enquiry notifications), and web push services (browser notifications, only if you enable them). We don't sell your personal data to advertisers or anyone else.

6. Payments

Payments are handled by Paystack. Homio does not receive or store your card number, PIN, or OTP — that information goes directly to Paystack's secure systems.

7. Where Data Is Stored

Your data is stored on Supabase's cloud infrastructure, which may host data outside Ghana. Where that happens, we rely on our provider's standard security and data-protection safeguards to keep your data protected to a similar standard as required under Ghanaian law.

8. How Long We Keep Data

We keep your account and listing data for as long as your account is active. Verification documents are kept for as long as needed to maintain your verified status, and may be kept afterward if required to meet a legal obligation.

9. Your Rights

Under Ghana's Data Protection Act, you can ask to see the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account and associated data. To do any of these, email info@gethomio.com.

10. Cookies

Homio uses basic cookies/local storage to keep you signed in and remember preferences like your theme (light/dark). We don't sell your data to advertisers.

11. Children's Privacy

Homio is not intended for anyone under 18. We don't knowingly collect personal data from children. If we learn a child's data has been submitted to us, we'll delete it.

12. Security & Data Breaches

We use industry-standard measures (encrypted storage, access controls) to protect your data. No system is 100% secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information. If a breach happens that puts your personal data at risk, we'll notify affected users and Ghana's Data Protection Commission as required by law.

13. Data Protection Commission

Homio processes personal data as a data controller under Ghana's Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843). If you believe we've mishandled your data, you can also raise a complaint with Ghana's Data Protection Commission (dataprotection.org.gh).

14. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as Homio grows. If we make a material change, we'll update the date below.
